ONE of the most acclaimed and dynamic bands of recent years plays Newport Centre tonight. Tickets are rare and more sort after than chocolate cake at fat camp so if this is news to you, you've probably missed the boat.
The band is promoting its second LP, Origin of Symmetry, which is packed with typically brooding classics and produced by John Leckie of Radiohead and Stone Roses fame. Sneak single previews of the album were offered with Plug in Baby and New Born. In just two years together, the band, led by one Matt Bellamy, has sold half a million copies of its debut album, Showbiz, and played big festivals such as Glastonbury.
Live, their most effective talent is to develop and build-up riffs into a breathtaking eruption, a talent that can be compared to the likes of the astonishing Jeff Buckley.
l Muse play Newport Centre on Friday November 9. Tickets are £12.50. For more info dial (01633) 662662.
