PONTYPOOL team manager Tony Clark says his side have yet to fire on all cylinders despite last week's drubbing of Rumney.

Clark warned that Saturday's opponents Tondu would prove tough rivals, but added his side were well equipped to meet the challenge.

"For the first ten to fifteen minutes against Rumney we were locked in a shell but after we broke free we showed what we can do. I thought the handling by forwards and backs was amazing, but we are still not firing on all cylinders - there's still more we have to offer," Clark revealed.

He was quick to praise outside half Byron Hayward, who recorded a personal tally of 23 points with an immaculate kicking performance.

"Byron was sheer class from the outset. He was the catalyst behind the victory. As for Tondu, it is well within our capabilities to go there and get a result."

The club have been hit by news that new Scotland under-21 international signing Andrew Welch is leaving to rejoin Scottish club Harriotts after just two games in Wales.

Pontypool are scouring the market for a player/coach to replace David Manley, who has stepped down from his position as backs coach.

"We will be advertising the job. Byron (Hayward) is taking temporary charge, but we are actively searching for someone who can step in and fill both roles as a back and coach," Clark said.

Nicky Lloyd returns at scrum half for Pontypool tomorow in place of Gareth Jenkins while Chris Landry plays in the centre with Stephen John moving to take over from Martin Llewellyn on the wing.

The club include second row Del Cross on dual registration from Newport among the replacements.

The club's home game with Merthyr next week has been switched to Friday night, kick-off 7.15pm.
