FIREFIGHTERS battled for nearly an hour to bring a blaze at a garage under control last night.
Four fire engines tackled the fire in cars at Acorn Cars in New Road, Tredegar, just after 6pm.
A number of vehicles and the roof and interior were damaged. The road outside was closed for 30 minutes.
Inspector Mike Cotterell, of Gwent police, said: "The fire appears to have started in the workshop area of the garage and appears to have been caused by welding activities carried out earlier in the day.
"This seems to be just a genuine accident and this is no longer a police matter as there are no suspicious circumstances."
