JOHN Aloysius Ward, pictured, leader of the Roman Catholic Church in Wales, is due to meet the Pope tomorrow, when a decision will be made on his future.
Calls have been made for the resignation of the Archbishop of Cardiff after it was revealed that he employed two paedophile priests despite warnings about them. In an exclusive interview with the Argus last month, the Archbishop vowed to stay in his post until his retirement in 2004.
"The question of my staying or going is between myself and the Pope," he said then.
The Archbishop came under fire following the jailing of Father Joe Jordan and former Chepstow priest John Lloyd for sex attacks on children.
Last year he suffered a deep vein thrombosis.
An apostolic administrator was appointed to run the archdiocese until Archbishop Ward was well enough to take over again.
