JOOLS Holland will be one of the biggest draws on the Radio 2 Live in Cardiff bill. The appeal of his exuberant take on boogie woogie, rhythm and blues etc is universal and guaranteed to drag even the ricketiest mother and father off the couch and onto the dance floor.
There was once a time when all great boogie woogie pianists were big and black but since Jools landed there has been at least one pint-sized expert on the scene. He first came to the public's attention as the pianist and song writer in Squeeze with classic tunes, such as, Cool for Cats.
Among his first forays into television were appearances on the Old Grey Whistle Test but he is known and loved for his 1990s' equivalent, Later, With Jools Holland. He also brightens up the airwaves on Radio 2, Monday evenings at 8.30pm, among other slots.
His latest album is the boogie woogie collection Sunset Over London which features classics like I Dig Rhythm, Let the Good Times Roll and Lady Madonna.
For his show in the Welsh College of Music and Drama he will be joined by singer Sam Brown. The 37-year-old singer is famous for her collaborations with older groups, such as Pink Floyd, and a string of successful solo albums.
