DESPITE a comfortable victory over Llanharan, Pontypool team manager Tony Clark says the side still have a number of areas to improve on if they are to challenge for the Division One title, writes Noel Davies.
Tuesday's win ended a disappointing spell of two defeats, but Clark warned Saturday's task at Bonymaen would not be easy for the Gwent side.
"The main thing against Llanharan was to stop the rot," said Clark. "The win was all important, but there are still areas we need to work on. Our defence, however, was superb and Jason (Strange) added the calming influence we needed. His touchline kicks were A1 and hopefully he will available for more games in the future (on dual registration from Newport).
"The elements will play a major role at Bonymaen. The wind can play a massive part in dictating the way the game is played," added Clark, who said Pontypool urgently needed to re-find the killer instinct.
He confirmed former England scrum half Richard Hill and Wales defence coach Clive Griffiths would hold future coaching sessions at Pontypool Park.
Pontypool delay naming their team with the biggest doubt surrounding scrum half Nicky Lloyd, who has a groin strain. All squad members leave clubhouse 11.45am. Pontypool Youth are home to Penallta at Pontypool Park tomorrow, kick-off 2.30pm.
