NEWPORT County manager Tim Harris admits both he and his team are under pressure to perform in tonight's home FA Cup second qualifying round replay (7.45pm) after the club drew 1-1 with Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.
Long before the end of the game Newport's travelling fans were singing their dissatisfaction, but County now have another chance to put their opponents out of the competition.
They will have to do without Steve Benton as the defender has work commitments, and Matt Rose is still struggling with flu.
A goal from County's Jeff Eckhardt was cancelled out by Swindon's Dave Toomey on Saturday and despite hitting the post and having a shot cleared off the line, County could not get the winning goal their disgruntled fans craved.
Harris said: "At the end of the day this is the FA Cup and they made it difficult for us. They have raised their game and we got ourselves in front and got caught. But we know we aren't playing as well as we can at the moment.
"We have said for a few weeks that we are underachieving, but there is a bit of pressure on the lads and it really does effect them when confidence is not at a high.
"I understand the fans' frustration and the players have to be able to handle criticism. "I have to take the supporters' opinions on the chin, but you have to give Swindon credit for the way they played."
On paper, Dr Martens Premier Division County should have dealt with their bottom of the Western Division opponents.
But Harris knows all about underdogs winning through. He was manager of Cinderford Town when they rose above their Hellenic League status to put Conference side Bath City out of the FA Cup in 1994/95.
He said: "I have been on the other side of it. Nothing is guaranteed in football and we didn't have that little bit of luck you need. It was a poor penalty from Garry Shephard and Raith Plant had a chance cleared off the line.
"I got criticised for making substitutions, but until we start winning games I will get criticised for everything and I have got to handle it, simple as that. "No matter what I do or say someone will disagree with me, but I have to just ignore that and do my job."
