CELTIC Manor's Lauren Diggle (pictured) went within an whisker of clinching the Golf Foundation Brooches at the South Wales Girls Association meeting at Whitchurch.
Diggle, a three handicapper, returned a gross 75 to finish just one stroke adrift of former Welsh girls' champion Kate Phillips of Creigiau.
Tredegar Park's Sahara Hassan did very well to return a score of 80 off a handicap of 11 while Lucy Ambrozeycyk, from Llanwern, handed in an 81 and Dewstow's Rebecca Godfrey, an eight handicapper, posted an 83.
