BIDDiNG for the chance to have a wee dram of a rare whisky was poised to cost someone £2,000 today.
A bottle produced in 1890 at the Welsh Whisky Distillery was due to come under the hammer at an auction in Tredegar House, Newport.
One of only three bottles known to exist, it was expected to sell for between £1,500 and £2,000.
It was one of the lots in Phillips Auctioneers' first The Arts in Wales sale of antiques and was accompanied by a range of advertising materials from the distillery, which operated from 1889 to 1900.
The sale was due to begin at 10am and go on until 6.30pm.
