A CRIMEWATCH appeal will be made tomorrow for information about a Gwent man who has been on the run since 1999.
A photograph of 32-year-old Peter Wilson (pictured) will feature on Crimewatch UK on BBC1 tomorrow.
Born Peter John Timms, in County Durham, he changed his name to Wilson some time ago, but is still known as 'Timmsy' in the Pontypool area, where he lived for many years.
He pleaded guilty to deception offences in November 1999. The case was adjourned pending a confiscation hearing, but Wilson failed to appear at the crown court the following February.
Later that month another warrant for his arrest was issued when he did not appear in magistrates court in relation to an assault charge.
Wilson owns a number of properties and ran a small building business. Gwent Police have made inquiries into his disappearance in Pontypool and surrounding areas.
Detective Inspector Mike Jones, of Pontypool police station, said: "Wilson can best be described as a confident and gregarious character."
He is white and around 6ft 1in tall. DI Jones said he had kept strong links with Pontypool. "Despite following up a number of leads I have been unable to locate him and hope people may be able to assist after seeing his photograph on Crimewatch UK."
Crimewatch UK is broadcast at 9pm tomorrow on BBC1 and updated at 11.35pm. Anyone who can help is asked to contact the incident room on 01495 232360. For further information about Wilson contact DI Jones on 01495 764711.
Anyone who would like to offer information anonymously can contact Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111 and could receive a cash reward.
