GWENT snooker star Mark Williams (pictured) has been banned from a Gwent golf club after he and three mates were accused of offending a group of women golfers with their alleged behaviour.
The four were reported to club owner Doug Wood after playing on the Woodlake Park golf course near Usk.
Mr Wood, aged 67, said: "It was purely by chance that I found out they had not paid their fees. I was in the bar, and one of the members said Mark Williams had just teed off on the first hole."
Mr Wood says he approached the players on the course and demanded that millionaire Williams and the other members of his playing party pay the appropriate green fees, which came to £29, which they paid. But following their round, women members complained about the group's behaviour on the course.
"They were all businessmen," added Mr Wood. "One of them drove away in a Jaguar with a personalised number plate."
Mr Wood has now written to all the 27 golf clubs in the Gwent Golf Union and the 49 clubs in the neighbouring Glamorgan Golf Union have also been informed of the ban.
The former world champion, aged 26, comes from Cwm, near Ebbw Vale, and is competing in the Regal Masters tournament in Glasgow this week.
He was not available to comment this morning.
