CWMBRAN Town hope to begin their climb up the League of Wales table with victory over Caernarvon Town at Port Talbot's Victoria Road ground tomorrow.
Because they have played just two league fixtures, winning and losing, Cwmbran currently find themselves in unfamiliar territory near the bottom.
But manager Tony Willcox (pictured) doesn't intend that to last for long and victory tomorrow should send them up several places.
Victory will be no formality, however, against unbeaten rivals who have won two and drawn two to date, though a 3-3 home draw against Caersws last week was not what they had hoped for.
Cwmbran will take added confidence from their 2-0 League of Wales Cup win over Port Talbot in midweek when Chris Watkins and Rhys Griffiths scored.
"It's our chance to make up ground," confirmed Willcox, "but it won't be easy. "We played them in the Welsh Cup last year and though we got a good 4-2 result, it was largely due to the individual performance of Jodie Jenkins, who scored a hat-trick.
"But it's a game we are capable of winning and need to win to keep things going. "Because of our programme (with a host of cup games) we are likely to have played only four or five league games by the end of October, so it's important to get points on the board.
"We don't want to fall too far behind and put added pressure on ourselves." Tomorrow Cwmbran, who have only a slight injury worry concerning striker Lee Brown, add Phil James to the squad on duty against Port Talbot.
Cwmbran squad: G Wager, P O'Hagan, R Carter, D Philpott, M Pattimore, A Moore, N Smothers, R David, N Wigg, S Wharton, N Cotterall, L Brown, C Watkins, C Hughes, R Parker, P James.
n Lifelong fan Brian Melzack has entered into exclusive talks with QPR to buy the club. The property developer's consortium will now have 21 days in which to finalise their offer for QPR who are currently in administration.
Loftus Road chief executive David Davies said in a statement: "We are pleased to announce we have entered into this exclusivity period with Brian Melzack and his consortium.
"Due to confidentiality agreements signed by both parties we will be unable to discuss this any further until the matter is resolved one way or the other." n Millwall manager Mark McGhee has urged fans to be patient with comeback hero Neil Harris.
The 24-year-old striker made his first-team return as a substitute in a 3-1 win over Barnsley on Tuesday night just four months after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. McGhee said: "It is fantastic to have Neil back. We've really missed him and he gave everyone a lift when he came back.
"He was desperate to return but we were never going to rush him back and now he needs a few games to get fit again."
Liverpool captain Sami Hyypia has saluted the honesty of his team-mates who have bucked the recent trend of diving in a bid to win penalties.
The Finnish international was speaking after England striker Michael Owen did not make the most of his chance to win a spot-kick during the goalless Champions League draw at Borussia Dortmund.
Hyypia insisted: "We are not cheats - I repeat, we are not cheats. "Of course you can speculate that had he gone down we would have got a penalty, but I think fair play is always the best way."
