THE Legendary Bolshoi Symphony comes to St David's Hall, Cardiff, in October, with a brace of Russian classics, conducted by Mark Ermler.
The programme covers the Russian Easter Festival Overture, by Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini, Borodin's Symphony No 2, and Prokofiev's Suite Cinderella.
With the accomplished pianist Derek Han leading the orchestra, the evening promises to be a memorable one.
Mark Ermler has the music of these composers in his blood, as do the members of the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, so there probably isn't a better equipped team to capture the approach of midnight and Cinderella's horror at the loss of her glass slipper, beautifully evoked in Prokofiev's ballet.
Ermler has worked with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Vancouver Opera, Prague National Opera and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, to name but a few.
The Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra are at St David's Hall, Cardiff, on October 4 at 7.30pm - there is a free pre-show event in the foyers at 6.15pm. Tickets are priced at £7.50 - £24.50. Box office: 029 2087 8444
