CROSS Keys coach John Hall-Moore has asked for patience as his staff try to settle on their best squad for the new season.
Under previous head coach David Rees, Keys regularly made numerous changes which did not always go down well in some quarters.
So far this season, under the new set-up, things have largely been the same, but Hall-Moore says there will be more continuity, given time.
"We have a new coaching staff and many new players and it is only fair everyone is given a chance as we try out various options," said the new man at the helm. "A number are new to this level of rugby and we have to see how they perform. I'm pleased to say that many have adapted well.
"I'm not a great believer in wholesale changes, and once we have given everyone a fair chance changes will be fewer and there will be greater continuity.
"I ask for patience and tolerance while we try to achieve continuity and as we try to get the squad to gel.
"We have won three out of four games to date while not playing well, so that's a bonus for us.
"And we have come from behind in all our matches, including at Aberavon last weekend, though we did not deserve to win there, so that shows the right attitude and commitment. "Things are going quite well and should get better and there is a long way to go."
After Aberavon last week, Keys face another tough trek tomorrow to face Tondu, winners of all their games so far and the division's surprise team.
"We identified a weakness in the lineout at Aberavon, who were well organised and worked the driving maul well. We feel Tondu will play a similar game and we have to compete there.
"It will be very, very tough at Tondu. They are on top of their game at the moment, but the potential is there for us to do well, though we have to stop being a team of two halves." Newcomers who have impressed Hall-Moore so far include flanker Dean Gibbs and half backs Gethin Worgan and James Pizey while Paul Watkins (pictured) has proved a consistent performer for Keys.
"Dean has impressed me, James Pizey is growing in stature and Gethin Worgan has taken to this level well."
Keys again ring the changes tomorrow, Rhys Potter returning at full back and Gareth Davies and Morgan Lovell are among the threequarters.
Gibbs' back row brother Andrew could not be considered after receiving 15 stitches in a head wound suffered at Aberavon last week.
