Newport County travel to Salisbury City tonight (7.45pm) to take on the Dr Martens League Premier Division's bottom team.

Although the two sides drew 0-0 in County's first home game of the season, Newport missed a hatful of chances.

Although their finishing has been poor this season, County have shown they can create plenty of chances and with City coming into the game on a run of four defeats, this could be the time for Newport to show the league what they can do.

"They might be rooted to the bottom, but they caused Weymouth a few problems and we won't be taking anything for granted," said County manager Tim Harris. "Having said that, we can take some confidence from Saturday's win and if we can finish some chances we can bury them and walk away with the three points."

The experiment of playing Garry Shephard and Jeff Eckhardt looks set to continue. The pair worked tirelessly against Welling.

But striker Martin Paul is fighting hard for selection after being dropped following County's 3-1 defeat at Chelmsford.

Harris said: "Jeff is enjoying the challenge of playing up front. He played as a striker while at Stockport and he's putting himself about in the opponents' penalty area.

"I had a chat with Martin after Saturday's game and his attitude is tremendous. He will come good once we start playing to his strengths."

Harris was referring to County's midfield problems. They have struggled to win the ball in the middle of the park, which has meant poor quality of service for the forwards.

But with defensive midfielder Jason Perry back from injury, Harris thinks things might well begin going County's way.

- COUNTY have Scott Walker out injured with big bruising to his foot and Darren Ryan makes his first league start for the club.

Midfielders Nathan Davies and Stuart James both miss the game with heave flu and hamstring injuries, respectively.

l Josh Dupres, a centre back, from the Newport County Football Academy based at Hartridge High School, has been selected for the Wales Under-17 professional squad to meet Scotland at Rhyl on Monday.

Glyn Jones, head of the County Academy, said: "It's great to have a player in the squad which is made up of players from Premiership and Football League clubs."
