UP to 200 jobs will be up for grabs at Newport's annual Jobsfair later this week.

And employers from around the area and some from across the River Severn will be on hand to snap up suitable recruits.

The Jobsfair is to be staged at Newport's Kings Hotel, High Street, on Friday, from 10 am to 3pm. And jobs on the table will cover a wide range of industry sectors offering full- and part-time jobs which are either permanent of temporary.

Employers attending the event are Argos, BHS, Boots, Newport & Cardiff, Littlewoods, Comet, Currys, WH Smith, Asda, Cribbs Causeway, The Body Shop, LG Phillips Displays, Sung Nam, Hasbro UK, The Patent Office, Celtic Manor Resort, The Holiday Inn, The Hilton and The Kings Hotel.

And appearing for the first time will be Dunelm, Wilkinsons, Brookes Avana, Office for National Statistics, Alico, Toad at The Westgate and the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

Newport Jobcentre marketing manager Margaret Jones said: 'This is our ninth Jobsfair and all previous events have been a great success as it has enabled the majority of employers to virtually solve their recruitment needs in one day.

'The jobs on offer will include production work, warehouse and retail to clerical, customer service and catering.' Ms Jones said the Jobsfair allows jobseekers to meet representatives of each employer to find out more about the jobs on offer, and to sell themselves and their skills in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

Julie Kennedy, business manager at Newport Jobcentre, said: 'The Jobsfair will offer an excellent opportunity for people looking for work, whether full- or part-time, permanent or temporary.

'I hope as many people as possible will come along to the event as I am confident we have all the ingredients for a great day.'
