WALES will jump into action on September 7 when Welsh school children join hundreds of thousands of youngsters from all over the UK in a simultaneous giant jump to launch Science Year.
Techniquest at Cardiff Bay will be one of nine regional launch centres which will video-link into the Science Museum in London for the leap into the Guinness Book of Records when the Giant Jump is measured on seismometres.
In Cardiff, Science Year will be launched by pupils from Mount Stuart School, the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning Jane Davidson, and the director of Techniquest Colin Johnson.
Following the joint launch, the children in Techniquest will take part in a Big Shout experiment which will be measured with a soundometer.
The launch will mark the beginning of a whole year of fun and stimulating activities across the UK. Techniquest will co-ordinate Science Year activities across Wales.
