EBBW Vale revert to the side which beat Pontypridd for tomorrow's clash with Welsh/Scottish League champions Swansea at Eugene Cross Park.

Vale have lost heavily on the road at Llanelli and Leinster, but they rallied to the cause to gain a fine victory over Pontypridd in their only home game so far.

After making 13 changes for the midweek trip to Dublin coach Mike Ruddock has reverted to his successful formula for the visit of another of his former clubs.

The only position where there might have been a change was at number eight, but Gareth Green failed a fitness test on his injured ankle yesterday.

Will Thomas remains at number eight, though it is hoped Green will be back for next Friday's visit of Ulster.

"Obviously we are trying to target our home matches, so we've decided to play the same team which beat Pontypridd," said Ruddock.

"We learnt last year that three games in a week for the same XV is too much, so we used the midweek match to take a look at the squad and keep guys fresher for a home target game against Swansea."

Gareth Cull, a new signing from Bridgend, plays on the wing for his place kicking prowess though he is normally a full back.

Wales under-21 prop Martin Jones is at loose head instead of the more experienced Damien Penisini.

And it is a quickfire chance for new vice-captain David Weatherley against his former club, having joined Ebbw Vale in the summer.

Vale gained a fine victory over Swansea in a pre-season friendly, and Swansea are still without their injured British Lions Mark Taylor, Scott Gibbs and Darren Morris while Colin Charvis is away and Garin Jenkins is also injured.

"We did well in the friendly which will give us encouragement, but this is a different kettle of fish," said Ruddock.

"They are the champions and they defended very well against Pontypridd (their only win this season).

"But after our win against Pontypridd we will try to reproduce that form and make it difficult for Swansea.

"If we can get the same level of support behind a new young team hopefully we can win again."
