LEICESTER midfielder Matt Jones says his Wales team-mates are feeling the frustration as they hope to secure their first World Cup win for five years.

Not since San Marino were humbled 6-0 at the old Cardiff Arms Park on August 31,1996 have Wales won a home World Cup qualifying game.

Now Jones and his team-mates plan to give Wales a win on Saturday against Armenia virtually five years to the day since the national side last tasted victory in a home World Cup qualifier.

After Wales lost their last Millennium Stadium World Cup match 2-1 to Poland in June, Jones said there is intense pressure in the camp to reward national boss Mark Hughes with a home win.

Jones said: "The boys want to do as well as we can in every game, it's getting frustrating, because we are getting the performances in, but not taking the three points and our first win at the Millennium Stadium is well needed on Saturday.

"There's always a buzz playing in Wales, as internationals coming back to our own country it's important to get the win, it's been a long time coming and is much needed."

Jones knows what to expect against a sharp Armenian side who drew 2-2 in Yerevan last March, but says Wales desperately need a win to set themselves up for the away game against Norway next Wednesday.

He said: "The last time out there it was a draw and they looked very sharp, they will come out all-guns blazing, they are very good starters.

"We need to hold them off for 20 minutes to ride the storm and play them at their own game, it's most important to put in our own good performance.

"Saturday's match against Armenia is a stepping stone to the Norway match and it's important to get a win to set you up for the game which is only a couple of days later to get the confidence very high."
