WE say Corus should save Llanwern Sports and Social Club - and 1,500 of you agree.
That's the number of people who have now pledged their support to our campaign to stop steel giant Corus closing the social club, by registering their backing on our website or by filling in our coupons.
Corus - which has axed 1,300 jobs at the Llanwern steelworks by closing the 'heavy end' - says it wants to close the clubhouse and grounds, saying this will lead to a £70,000 a year saving for the company.
The decision has angered club members, who are campaigning with the Argus to urge Corus to rethink its bitterly opposed plans.
The campaign has even attracted Royal support, with Prince Charles contacting the club, saying he was "deeply concerned" about the community surrounding the plant.
And local MPs and AMs have also pledged their support for the club.
Llanwern Sports and Social Club secretary, Robert Marchant said the club was determined not to give up its fight.
He told the Argus: "We remain determined to fight it all the way and members of other clubs which have closed are also working with us.
"It is excellent news about the Argus campaign and I hope people will continue to support it."
The club is putting on a number of events to help fund its fight - including a fun football match dubbed the 'Bar Girls against the Bar Boys' which was held at the football ground yesterday.
And on September 5 at the club, there will be a fundraising evening when it is hoped two top players from Newport RFC will attend and a signed Black and Ambers shirt will be auctioned.
There will also be a number of variety acts and a number of top raffle prizes will be up for grabs, including a TV and video and a weeks holiday in West Wales.
