LLANWERN suffered a 5-1 defeat in their final warm-up match, beaten by a slick Chippenham Town team who have earned a place in the Dr Martens League this season.
Trailing 3-0 at half-time, the Gwent side pulled a goal back through a penalty from player-manager Adriano Girolami.
The Welsh League side lost 3-1 at Almondsbury on Saturday after taking an early lead with a shot from midfielder Dennis Spiteri.
The Newport works side have defeated Bristol Manor Farm (4-0) and Ellwood (2.-0) in earlier friendlies while losing to Hereford side Pegasus 2-0.
Llanwern open their Welsh League Division One season at home to Penrhiwceiber on Saturday before hosting Caerleon next Tuesday.
One disappointing note for Llanwern is that they have been forced to scrap their reserve team following the departure of Phil Jones to Newport Corinthians.
With the earlier withdrawal of Fields Park Pontllanfraith it leaves the Reserve Division East with 10 teams.
