FORGET mail-order brides - two Gwent woman have hit on their own dot-com idea to take the hassles out of wedding details.
Unlike the hit Hollywood blockbuster, the Wedding Planner, where Jennifer Lopez was hired to help brides organise their big day, giggle-designs.com is solving dilemmas online.
Peri Said, of Abergavenny, and Lorraine Thomas, of New Inn, launched Giggles on the Internet last month, and have already seen orders come rolling in.
The pair design their own unique range of accessories - from veils and tiaras to table confetti and stationery.
Peri and Lorraine - who design at a studio in North Street, Abergavenny - worked together for a couple of years designing and making greetings cards.
Said Peri: "We needed something more stimulating than making cards because we soon found that restricted our creativity.
"Lorraine has done a number of textile courses and is very talented, and I am from a creative family, so we work well together.
"It all started when I was flicking through some magazines, and I said to Lorraine that she could do equally as well as the bridal designs shown.
"We put the idea on hold for a while, but at the beginning of this year started talking seriously about it again. There is definitely a niche in the market.
"Of course there is plenty available, but if you want something different then we have it. Couples look for something different today now they can get married underwater, in the air or in a castle."
The company also offers wedding merchandise such as albums, keepsakes and photograph frames, all individually designed.
Lorraine said: "Brides can do all their orders over the website, but we also welcome them visiting our studio in Abergavenny. Everything we sell is hand-made so we encourage people to come and have a look."
