MORE than 10,000 people were at Bryn Bach Park in Tredegar on Sunday for a family fun day in aid of the Hospice of the Valleys.
The main event was an It's A Knockout competition, contested by 21 teams. The team from Argos in Ebbw Vale eventually won the trophy, beating off competition from an HTV celebrity team captained by newsreader Juliet Piper.
Yuasa Battery, of Ebbw Vale, were runners-up, while Iceland, also of Ebbw Vale, were third, and Coils UK Ltd received a consolation prize for being the slowest team! There was lots of entertainment, including bands and a children's disco, a funfair, craft fair, stalls, a clairvoyant and a balloon race.
Hospice fundraising manager Christine Macarthy said she expected at least £10,000 would be raised from the fun day.
"This is the first time we have arranged the event for the Hospice of the Valleys," she said. "It was a brilliant day and it will become an annual event."
She added that the It's A Knockout competition had given companies and organisations a wonderful opportunity to get involved.
