WALES star Neil Jenkins could miss the Lions' tour opener against Western Australia after a training accident in Perth left him requiring stitches.
Jenkins, hero of the Lions' Test series victory over South Africa four years ago, needed six stitches to a gash underneath his eye following a collision yesterday with Ireland lock Malcolm O'Kelly, who was unhurt.
His fellow fly-half Jonny Wilkinson is still nursing a slight groin strain, which might leave Ronan O'Gara as the only fully fit number 10 for next Friday's clash.
Lions coach Graham Henry plans to announce the starting line-up on Wednesday. The squad trained twice yesterday, including England pair Lawrence Dallaglio and Iain Balshaw, who were both injured during last month's Premiership play-offs and provided the major pre-tour scares.
Wales prop David Young is still troubled by a calf problem, but expects to start training tomorrow.
Dan Luger, meanwhile, has targeted hitting the form of his life as a Lion in Australia this summer.
England wing Luger believes nothing else will suffice during the three-Test series against Rod Macqueen's world champion Wallabies.
Luger is a leading contender to make the Lions Test team, having scored 13 international tries from just 20 starts.
The Lions begin the three test series against Australia on Saturday June 30.
