Joe Calzaghe, Newbridge's undefeated WBO world super-middleweight champion, becomes King of the Castle when he defends his title at Cardiff Castle on Saturday, July 21.
Calzaghe, the world's best super-middleweight, makes the ninth defence of his title in an open-air summer extravaganza to be staged at the 2000-year-old venue.
The 29-year-old last defended his title against Mario Veit at the Cardiff International Arena in front of a capacity 5,000 crowd, destroying the German in one round, and now wants to give something special back to his Welsh fans.
Calzaghe reigns as Britain's only undefeated world champion and was knocked out by the welcome he got for his last fight.
"The Welsh fans are tremendous and I want to give them something special to remember. "What can be better than defending my crown at Cardiff Castle - a venue that is steeped in history and is world renowned?"
Promoter Frank Warren said: "Due to the fantastic reception Joe received in his last fight he asked me if his next fight could be staged in Cardiff again. We looked at venues in Wales and felt that if the castle is fit for a king, then it is fit for Joe Calzaghe!"
Calzaghe is expected to defend against a top American opponent to be named shortly.
