A TOP Gwent visitor attraction has re-opened after being closed for almost all of the past three months because of foot-and-mouth.
It was opened by Torfaen mayor Councillor Collette Thomas. Greenmeadow Community Farm at Cwmbran has been closed for all but a couple of weeks during the past three months because of fears over the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
After closing at the end of February it briefly reopened several weeks later, only to close again when outbreaks of the disease were reported on the Gwent Levels. It was second time lucky yesterday, and the Bank Holiday brought a good number of people to the farm for the re-opening.
"It's been a very frustrating time and we're hoping we won't have to close again," said a farm spokesman. "Everyone here has been raring to go and we've got a good turnout today. It's good to have people coming back to see the animals."
