LABOUR'S parliamentary candidate for Monmouth, Huw Edwards, was helping Amnesty International mark a milestone at the weekend.
Mr Edwards was joined in the Shire Hall, Monmouth, on Saturday by First Secretary Rhodri Morgan as he cut a birthday cake to celebrate 40 years of the organisation.
In a speech, Mr Edwards, who has been a member of Amnesty International for more than ten years, thanked the group for wanting him to be involved in campaigning for human rights.
He said he hoped to carry on working with Amnesty International. Speaking about the organisation, Mr Edwards said: "It is a selfless campaign." Mr Morgan was helping Mr Edwards with canvassing in Abergavenny and Monmouth.
