NEWPORT golfer Phil Price can guarantee himself a Ryder Cup spot for this autumn, in the final round of the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth today.
Price, from Bassaleg, is currently joint-third in the tournament, alongside Argentina's Angel Cabrera and Sweden's Niclas Fasth. He is just five shots behind leader Andrew Oldcorn.
And, barring a nightmare last round, Price should pick-up enough points to earn himself an automatic spot in this autumn's Ryder Cup side.
Price had a mixed day yesterday scoring a level-par 72 in the third round. The Welshman went out in 37 and completed the back nine in 35, scoring three birdies and three bogies in his level-par round.
Although his performance was not as good as on the first two days, Price is still well placed to challenge for the title.
Leader Andrew Oldcorn made a three-under 69 to add to his record breaking 12-under from the first two rounds to put himself in the driving seat at 15-under.
Angel Cabrera kept pace with Oldcorn and Price and the three will battle it out in the final round today.
