FORMER World Indoor 400m champion Jamie Baulch flexed his muscles for Wales in the 4x100m relay - but could not stop them coming third.

Baulch joined double Loughborough winner Christian Malcolm in the relay and the pair both impressed in their legs, although it proved nothing more meaningful than a practice run.

Having sat out the individual 400m and the 4x400m relay with a stomach bug, Baulch took third leg and looked strong against winners England, who included Dwain Chambers and Allyn Condon.

Looking relaxed and confident after three months training in America, there is plenty of top action ahead for Baulch to prove himself after a discontented winter.

He said: "It was good, I was really pleased. We put together a little relay team quickly and it went well.

"England had a wicked squad, but I was pleased with my run, I had Tim Benjamin (GB juniors) inside me and he went away from me a bit at the end, but you can expect that.

"To be honest I have got an upset stomach and I'm on anti-biotics, so Linford (Christie) said I'd better not.

"I'm not 100% so I did the 4x100 for a bit of fun. A race in Poland in a few weeks time against the Poles, but they have got some really good runners, so we'll see what happens.

"I caught the bug when I was in America as soon as I came home I saw the doctor and they put me on antibiotics which leave you jaded, so I thought best not to risk it."
