NEWPORT'S triumphant rugby team will be honoured with a civic reception tomorrow night.
The mayor, Councillor Graham Dally, is hosting the celebration following the club's victory in the Principality Cup on Sunday.
Players, directors and their wives have been invited to the event at the Civic Centre.
Newport's 13-8 win over Neath at the Millennium Stadium was greeted with jubilation by fans as the team brought home the club's first piece of silverware in 24 years.
It was especially memorable as it was captain Gary Teichmann's last game for Newport. His contribution has been outstanding and his two-year stint will go down in the club's history.
Tomorrow's civic reception is a fitting tribute to Gary, his team and the club for reviving Newport's rugby fortunes and bringing glory to the town.
