A GWENT firm is on roll after its management completed buy- out from German owners. Bosses of Torfaen-based Scapa Rolls (UK) has bought the Cwmbran-based Voith AG, Germany, for an undisclosed sum.
And the new firm, which is staying put at its Somerset Industrial Estate site, has emerged as Just Rollers plc.
The firm, which employs 83 people, makes rubber- and polyurethane-covered rollers for a wide range of industries.
The firm, which has a turnover of £5 million, will also, under the trading name Just Polymer Compounds, continue to supply industry with its products. The management team of Geoff Davis, managing director, Ken Smale, finance director and Iain Sinclair, sales director, say manufacturing excellence and innovation remains at the heart of the new company.
Dr Davis said: "This is an exciting opportunity as we take control of the growth and direction of the business.
"Essential to the future of this business are the strength, quality and skills of an 80-strong workforce.
"Their contribution will be vital to our ongoing success."
Lead adviser to the management team was David Jenkins, of Pricewater-houseCoopers.
Mr Jenkins said: "Solid manufacturing businesses like Just Rollers are important to the ongoing stability of the Welsh economy.
"With a strong management team the company is well positioned to take advantage of the exciting challenges and opportunities presented with this buyout. I am delighted to have been part of the process."
Founded in 1970, the rollers firm has an established reputation for quality and leading-edge developments. The background enabled the firm to create a global customer profile in industries such as medical and food packaging, printing, photographic plate processing, steel, converting and coating.
Under the terms-of-sale agreement the company will continue to manufacture and supply rolls to the paper industry.
