GWENT-based accountancy firm BKR Haines Watts has completed a hat trick by gaining a presence in each of the three major centres in Wales - Newport, Swansea and now Cardiff.

The practice says the move makes it the only national accountancy practice with a presence in the three largest population centres in Wales. Last year the practice joined up with Newport accountants Notley Pearson Shewring.

The move made BKR Haines Watts the largest national practice based in Gwent, with a turnover exceeding £1 million.

The new Cardiff office is located in Newport Road, Cardiff, where regional partner for South Wales Nigel Williams is now based.

Mr Williams said: "BKR Haines Watts has 600 staff in 35 regional offices in the UK.

"But we have never lost sight of the fact the practice has grown to its present size by offering first-class service to the OMB (owner- managed business) sector.

"As we cater solely for the OMB sector we have an unrivalled understanding of the needs of this type of business.

"We can deliver the quality expected of a leading firm of national accountants, from a local base at highly competitive rates." BKR Haines Watts now has 60 staff and partners in Wales.

Mr Williams said he was delighted by the success of the firm's expansion programme in Wales.

"Our growth clearly reflects a need in the Welsh economy for locally based cutting-edge professional services.

"Since we are a local practice with the skills of a national one, we deliver the best of both worlds."
