A GWENT family are fearing for the safety of a loving 13-year-old girl who has gone missing. Ceri Thomas was last seen in Caldicot at 8am on May 1, when she was supposed to catch a bus to take her to St Joseph's High School in Newport.
Ceri, whose mother lives in Newport, had been staying with her aunt, Catherine Withers, in Firs Road, Caldicot, before she disappeared.
"I feel terrible," said Mrs Withers. "I need to know she's all right.
"Ceri, please ring me, just to let me know you're alive."
Mrs Withers said Ceri had been staying with her since Thursday, April 26.
"She played with my granddaughters, we went shopping, Ceri had new shoes. She was fine. "I last saw her on Tuesday morning. She kissed me goodbye.
"She had a bag with her, she told me it was games kit. But when I checked, after she'd disappeared, I noticed there were shoes and underwear missing from her room."
Mrs Withers also found a note, addressed to Ceri's mother.
"It said she loved her mother and her new stepfather, Alan," said Mrs Withers. "The police have got the note now."
Ceri was pictured in the Argus in March this year when she donated a dozen dolls to St Anne's Hospice.
Councillor Laura Buchanan-Smith, who helped organise a charity-shop display, said: "I thought it was a very nice thing to do. We used the dolls in the Mother's Day window display.
"She gave us the dolls because she was moving house. She was looking forward to being in a new home with her mum and her new stepfather.
"I'm so surprised she's gone missing. She's very level-headed. She's a lovely girl."
Ceri is 5ft 6in tall and of slim build. She has green eyes and shoulder-length bleached-blonde hair, which she usually wears tied back.
She was last seen wearing a Tommy Hilfiger top with black trousers and shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt David Tanner at Caldicot police station on 01291 430999.
