A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in an accident in Gwent yesterday.
The man - who has not been named - was travelling on his Suzuki 750 motorbike on the B4598 between Abergavenny and Usk when the accident happened.
Gwent Police say the blue-and-white motorcycle was travelling towards Usk but collided with a wall just before The Chainbridge Inn at about 1:45pm. The man has been identified and his family have been told.
The B4598 was closed for a few hours yesterday afternoon while accident investigation teams surveyed the scene. The Gwent coroner has been informed.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Inspector Alan Webber, of Gwent Police headquarters, said: "We are urging people who might have been on that road at that time to come forward and help us with our inquiries."

In a second accident in Gwent over the weekend a man was injured when the car he was driving collided with vehicles parked on a Newport estate The man, who has not been named, was taken to Newport's Royal Gwent Hospital suffering from a hand injury.
Police say the man had been driving his Peugeot on Hendre Farm Drive in Ringland yesterday afternoon. The Peugeot landed on its roof. The accident happened at about 4:15pm yesterday on Hendre Farm Drive near to the junction with Dawson Close. The police are appealing for witnesses.
The road was closed for a short time. Witnesses are asked to contact PC Sarah Edgcombe at Alway police station on 01633 244999.
