A SUBMARINE, yachts, pilot cutters and warships were all to be seen on Cwmbran Boating Lake on Sunday.
All, of course, were models, lovingly created by their owners and brought to the lake to celebrate Cwmbran Modelling Society's 30th anniversary. Model boat enthusiasts from the society were joined by several other clubs, to enjoy a day of sailing on the lake, in Llanyravon.
Club secretary Colin Mackie said there were around 40 boats altogether, including several from clubs from Gloucestershire, Droitwich, Portishead and Cardiff.
"It was a good turnout. "We cordoned off part of the lake for boats that children could have a go with and that was very popular. It seemed to be in use all day."
He said there was a huge variety of craft, including fishing boats, cabin cruisers, speed boats and even a submarine.
It was the sixth time the society has held its annual open day when they take over the whole lake and invite other clubs to join them.
There are presently around 45 members of the Cwmbran society, who meet at the lake every Sunday between 10am and 1pm.
Anyone interested in joining can go along on any Sunday, or call Mr Mackie on 01633 894781 or e-mail him on c.mackie@talk21.com
