NEWPORT'S mayor, Councillor Ken Critchley helped raise more than £700 for charity by hosting a duck race.
Hundreds of yellow plastic ducks were floated down the River Ebbw, Tredegar Park, on Sunday to raise money for the Samaritans - the mayor's chosen charity for the year.
Entrants paid £1 and the duck that crossed the line first won £100 for its owner.
"It was a fun event which was well organised," said Councillor Critchley.
