A GOLF tournament in memory of a police officer who died of a brain tumour raised money for charity.
The third annual Roy Williams Memorial Golf Tournament raised £2,400 for the Hospice of the Valleys. After breakfast the 48 golfers took to the course for 18 holes, before enjoying a charity auction and three course meal.
The 70 lots at the auction included a night in the haunted castle Graig-y-Nos near Swansea and a Welsh grand-slam rugby ball signed by the whole team.
A spokesman for the Hospice of the Valleys, which provides care for seriously ill people in their own homes, said: "We were absolutely thrilled it went so well. This money will enable us to keep on doing our good work and we are very grateful.
"We didn't think last year's total of £2,000 could be topped, but we have been proved wrong." The tournament took place at West Mon Golf Club in Brynmawr on September 9.
