A SCHEME where houses are checked for safety clocked up 20,000 visits across Gwent.
The Bobby Van scheme involves checking the homes of vulnerable people in Gwent and making free alterations, such as fitting locks or security chains, to ensure they are protected.
The occupants are also given advice on keeping their homes secure.
The scheme also involves marking people's property with ultra violet pens.
If items are stolen but then recovered by police they can be easily identified and returned to their owner.
