OLYMPIC hopefuls of the future will be able to perfect their technique on a new BMX track.
The track in Bryn Bach Park, Tredegar, opened at the weekend with a staged race of expert BMX riders.
The riders demonstrated BMX tricks and jumps and held skills workshops.
BMX is a growing sport and will be an Olympic sport in 2008.
The track was designed and built in collaboration with the Welsh Cycling Union and is suitable for beginners through to experienced or professional riders.
Councillor Steve Thomas, executive member for health at Blaenau Gwent council, said: "The track will hopefully encourage more people to take up the sport and encourage local residents and visitors into the park to experience what it has to offer."
