SERIOUS questions are today being asked over the conviction of a Gwent man jailed for life for murdering his girlfriend in India.
Yesterday the Argus said the conviction of Adrian Duggan, 37, of Blaina, raises more questions than it answers.
Today a top lawyer for charity Fair Trials Abroad lists a number of flaws in the prosecution case against Duggan, jailed last month for life in an Indian court for killing his girlfriend Catherine Campbell in Goa. She reveals:
Duggan refused a prosecution offer of a reduced sentence if he pleaded guilty and said he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Neither Duggan's fingerprints nor his blood was on a pair of scissors found at the death scene.
During the 15-month trial, the prosecution did not establish a motive. Fair Trials Abroad lawyer Mrs Sabine Zanker said she believes Duggan could be innocent.
