A MURAL dedicated to a former Gwent head teacher was unveiled in the town where he lived.
The Brynmawr Town Partnership's third town mural, painted by Dennis Bryant of Brynmawr, was shown to the public on Saturday.
The mural was dedicated to the memory of local historian Edwin Jones, who assisted Mr Bryant with the finer details of the mural.
Mr Jones, a former head teacher at Brynmawr county primary, advised Mr Bryant on matters of detail to enable the mural to depict Beaufort Street as it was in 1914. The mural is situated on the side wall of Alan's Furnishers and as you look at it you can see Beaufort Street as it is today and as it was in 1914.
Mr Jones was highly respected in the community He died earlier this year. His wife, Pearl Jones, officially unveiled the mural in his memory. Mrs Jones was presented with a framed print of the actual mural as a gift from Brynmawr Town Partnership.
Sue Ball, secretary of the Partnership, said: "This memorial could not have been dedicated to a more respected man in the community. He is greatly missed."
