Wales have been boosted by the late arrival of Barclays Premiership stars Mark Delaney and Simon Davies as the squad prepares for the World Cup qualifiers against North-ern Ireland and Azerbaijan.
However, it has been confirmed Blackburn's Craig Bellamy will not be fit for the match in Belfast on Saturday after visiting a specialist in Leeds for an examination of his on-going knee problem.
The injury is not as bad as was at first feared but the chances of Bellamy even being available for the match with Azerbaijan in Cardiff next Wednesday are remote. It is expected the Cardiff-born striker will have a full fortnight break.
But Wales manager John Toshack has seen Delaney and Davies join up with the squad at their Cardiff HQ.
Delaney played for Aston Villa reserves against Bolton at Lancaster on Monday - his third second team run-out since returning from a knee injury - without any problems and then drove down to Cardiff yesterday.
Davies, who picked up an ankle injury in Everton's defeat at Manchester City on Sunday, stayed behind on Merseyside for treatment but was able to travel to south Wales and train with the squad in Newport.
Toshack has added Gillingham's 21-year-old midfielder Andrew Crofts and 17-year-old Bristol City striker David Cotterill to the squad.
Both have been promoted from the under-21 squad, who left this morning from Heathrow to face Germany in Braunschweig on Friday.
Cardiff youngster Joe Ledley will stay with the under-21 squad despite the death of his grandmother earlier this week while 17-year-old Cardiff youngster Chris Gunter and Crystal Palace 19-year-old Rhoys Wiggins were called up.
Toshack's other problem is Wolves' Rob Edwards is unlikely to be available for the Belfast match because of back spasms.
Coventry's Robert Page (knee) and Cardiff's Jason Koumas (hamstring) were already missing from Toshack's squad.
But Wales' preparations have been subdued after a serious road accident involving four Cardiff City youngsters heading back from a reserve match at Hereford.
Two of the players, Nicky Fish and Stuart Fleetwood, have won under-21 caps and the latter was on the brink of being called up for the Germany trip.
Fish, with two under-21 caps, is still in hospital with serious head injuries. Fleetwood, midfielder Anthony Taylor and defender Lloyd Jenkins have all been discharged after treatment.
"Hearing of the accident was a great shock to us all, particularly as two of the lads have been with us only recently in the under-21 squad," said FAW spokesman Ceri Stennett.
