NEWPORT County have finally made a decision on their new manager- but they are keeping his identity under wraps for just a little longer.
Spytty Park officials were due to meet the candidate today to complete the deal and are confident they will be able to make an announcement on Monday.
"The board have come to a conclusion," said County director Colin Everett, who is in Belfast for Wales' World Cup qualifier and took part in last night's board meeting via telephone.
"They are meeting the individual today but we just have to dot the Is and cross the Ts but it is just about a done deal.
"We don't want to say anything just yet, though, until everything is completely finalised and we have contacted all the parties involved."
The reluctance to commit to a name strongly suggests that the new boss is currently in a job and is waiting until after Saturday's fixture before going public.
Meanwhile the Argus understands County approached former boss Tim Harris yesterday - but not to offer him the manager's job.
Harris, who is still on good terms with the club, was approached by a member of the County selection panel and asked to run the rule over potential bosses.
