Newport County are on a mission today - to end the curse of Weston once and for all.

Visits to the Somerset seaside resort have yet to produce a County victory, with four draws all they have to show from ten games there, nine of which were played at the Seagulls' former home at Woodspring Park.

County's closest rivals in Nationwide South moved down the road to the brand-new Woodspring Stadium last season, but the change of venue did not coincide with a change in fortune for County as Weston ran out 3-1 winners on Boxing Day 2005.

County manager Peter Beadle is aware of the tactical skills of Frank Gregan, his opposite number at Weston, but is hoping that the large contingent of fans County will take across the Severn Bridge will see an away victory.

"I would be surprised if Weston change things too much after their 2-2 draw at Newport last week, and I think that after coming back from two down Frank will be disappointed not to have taken the three points.

"I think that we have got enough to be able to win and it would be nice to put the record straight there.

"Our fans have always been great at home and away, and they can make a difference, particularly at a ground where they will be close to the pitch."

Beadle is still without the silky skills of Jason Bowen, while central defender Paul Cochlin needs more time to recover from the knee ligament damage he sustained in last Monday's match, and left-back Geraint Bater took a full part in training on Saturday after suffering a gashed shin in that game.

"Paul will be out for another week or so while Jason did some light training and is not too far off fitness now," said Beadle.
