CARDIFF Gate Business Park has been named as the sixth most active business park in the UK and number one in Wales.
The figures published by property specialists GVA Grimley in their latest Business Parks Review, show the development has let 60,000 sq ft of space in the first half of 2005, which saw take-up in the South West and Wales the strongest of all regions.
A development by PMH Developments and Sir Robert McAlpine, Cardiff Gate Business Park is prominently located at Junction 30 of the M4 and is home to nearly 50 businesses, including international names Coca Cola, HBOS Card Services, International Baccalaureate, Scottish and Southern Energy and Redrow Homes. Over the past 12 months, the 100-acre site has speculatively developed 120,000 sq ft of high specification office accommodation.
The most recent development is Oak Tree Court completed in early 2005, extending to 77,000 sq ft in 12 buildings. The latest businesses to have signed up here include Grosvenor Butterworth, Konica Minolta Business Solutions, Usdaw, Watts Gregory Chartered Accountants and Best Womens Fitness Studios UK. There are now just three buildings available totalling 22,000 sq ft.
Tony Fletcher, managing director at Cardiff Gate Business Park, said: "2005 has been a fantastic year for us which has seen buoyant activity with an influx of blue chip names moving in and employment levels exceeding 4,000 for the first time.
