Gwent construction company SC Moore Ltd has invested £400,000 in its operations in Newport and has ambitious expansion plans for the future.
Steven Moore, who is from the Ringland area of the city and is now the managing director, established SC Moore Ltd in 2000, with Mark Hands, from Cwmbran, the financial director.
Steven had been in the construction and building sector for more than 20 years before the formation of the company, running his own sole trader business in Newport, and had built up a good reputation and client base.
Mark is a qualified surveyor with a background in the public sector having worked for Newport council as a senior surveyor and a number of national construction companies on multi-million pound projects.
To attract new business and to compete more favourably in the market place SC Moore has invested £400,000 in its operations at Newport with the acquisition of a 10,000 sq ft joinery premises at Mariner Way on Felnex Industrial Estate, near the Transporter Bridge.
This is a substantial investment for the company and they have now relocated all their operations to this two-unit site. The enterprise has attracted support from its bankers NatWest.
SC Moore Ltd is now able to offer a total building solution under one roof with expertise in construction, mechanical and joinery. They attract business from all over South Wales and the West and take pride in the fact that they offer an individual and personal service to their customers with 90 per cent of the work undertaken in house. The expansion has created 10 jobs and they now employ around 50 staff with plans to increase the workforce further over the next five years. In the first year of trading the turnover was £500,000 and by the end of this financial year the company is confident of exceeding £5m which represents a remarkable growth.
The relocation and acquisition of the joinery premises will allow them to compete more favourably for contracts and at the same time giving them the room to expand.
