HE'S more used to hanging out in the 'Port, but now Goldie Lookin Chain's Maggot is rubbing shoulders with MP George Galloway, Faria Alam, glamour girl Jodie Marsh and entertainer Michael Barrymore.

"I'm here to make up the numbers," the rap posse member said as he entered the Big Brother house last night.

Dressed in the GLC's trademark leisurewear, Maggot strode into the celebrity goldfish bowl. While others may have gone through the doors to further or revive their flagging careers, Maggot joked he already had a "six figure deal" with a magazine and claimed he only joined the cast of the show because he had nothing better to do in January. "I would have just been watching it," he said.

And the Newport man said he would be used to be close conditions in the house - after spending much of the past few years closeted in a tour bus with the rest of the GLC like Mike Balls, Two Hats and Eggsy.

But he will have to fight to get himself noticed over the next three weeks among some of the most publicity-hungry celebrities in the UK and USA. Also in the line-up are basketball player Dennis Rodman, Baywatch star Traci Bingham, actress Rula Lenska, eighties pop star Pete Burns, and rock musician Samuel Preston.

An unknown member of the public, 22-year-old Chantelle from Essex, has been planted in the house with the mission of convincing the real celebrities that she is famous.

But she got off to a rocky start. "Is it Mag-got or Mag-git?" the blonde asked last night.
