TWO well-known musicians with a knack of matching their music to the seasons will help people to celebrate the turning of the year at a special concert at Llanhennock, near Caerleon on Saturday, January 21.
Robin and Bina Williamson, formerly of the Incredible String Band, have developed a distinctive brand of Indo-Celtic-Delta music over the years. They'll be offering a unique blend of traditional and original songs and stories.
This husband and wife team are accomplished harp, fiddle and percussion players and if past performances are anything to go by, they'll create a gripping and memorable atmosphere at Llanhennock.
Recent performances at the Canterbury Festival and the Royal Festival Hall, London and Llandaff Cathedral have produced rave reviews by critics and event organisers. The Guardian described them as a "highlight of the Festival" after their performance at the Royal Festival Hall's Meltdown US-UK Connections event in June 2005. Canterbury officials said they were "spellbinding".
Robin and Bina are inspired by spiritual and folk music from many cultures. "This is real music - magical, simple, funky and true," says Robin. "It's full of soul and highly entertaining."
The concert, at Llanhennock Village Hall at 8pm on Saturday, January 21, will raise funds for the 2006 Caerleon Arts Festival and International Sculpture Symposium (June 28th- July 9th).
