POLICE say a driver could hold vital information about a horrific Valleys car crash which left two people dead.
Mother of three Maria Davies, of Ebbw Vale, and father of one John Gibbs, of Brynmawr, both died when the black BMW they were travelling in left the A470 between Abercynon and Pentrebach on October 15 at 11.15pm.
South Wales Police said witnesses have told them the BMW car was travelling northbound at high speed, together with a smaller silver car.
The two vehicles were travelling very close to each other at high speed before the collision.
They also said the silver car stopped momentarily after the incident. Police say this could mean the driver knew about the collision.
It is this driver whom police want to trace.
They say the driver could hold information vital to the investigation. Ms Davies, 29, had three children, Scott, 14, Lucy, ten, and eight-year-old Carly-Jayne.
She worked as a care assistant at Cantref residential home in Abergavenny.
After the crash her mother, Linda, said: "Maria was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed."
Mr Gibbs, also 29, was a motor mechanic, and was described as a family man who would be sadly missed. He left his partner, Sarah, and a nine-year-old son, Nathan.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "If anyone believes they know the identity of the driver of the silver car or the vehicle itself they are urged to contact the police, where the information will be treated in confidence."
