Cardiff City play-off hero Andy Campbell is reported to be joining Newport County on loan.
Campbell, who signed for the Bluebirds for almost £1m from Premiership side Middlesbrough, is now surplus to requirements at Ninian Park and has already had loan spells with Doncaster and Oxford United.
It is believed Campbell may have signed in time for County's Conference South clash with Eastleigh Town at Spytty Park on Saturday.
Campbell will join up with with join former Bluebirds team-mate Scott Young, who is returning to Spytty Park as County's assistant manager.
County confirmed the appointment of Young, 30, yesterday, though he doesn't officially join the club until next Monday.
Former County boss Peter Nicholas signed central defender Young at the start of the 2004-5 season, but a back injury prematurely ended the former Cardiff City player's career and he left the club after a matter of weeks.
He has been coaching at Macron Welsh League outfit Ton Pentre for the past 16 months.
"I have unfinished business at Newport, I was gutted I had to leave so quickly the first time around," he said.
"I have ambitions to do well as both an assistant manager and as a manager at all levels and it is a great move for me to rejoin County.
"Newport County has loads of potential and we can definitely improve quickly. Obviously the most important thing in the near future is to push ourselves a lot closer to the teams above us in the league and to move from danger."
Young is also looking forward to forging a relationship with County boss Peter Beadle, as well as renewing acquaintances with several people at the club.
He explained: "Peter and I know and respect each other."
